Make It: Homemade Salad Dressing

By The Makr Team

“Make more; consume less” is our maker’s mantra this year. Whenever we can, we’re choosing the handmade over the store-bought. From-scratch salad dressing is the absolute best, so following favorite blogger Joanna Goddard’s tip, our content manager Kelsey has resolved to make her own dressing every week.

Stirring up just a week’s worth of dressing is a low time commitment and safe bet that your dressing  won’t go bad before you get a chance to use it. So let’s go green – literally!

Whip up a family favorite or a recipe from a go-to food blog (see our picks below). Kelsey loves her Nana’s one-pot dressing recipe because it can all be dumped into a mason jar, shaken and stored:

2 T. red vinegar
1 T. lemon juice
1 T. minced onion
2 tsp. prepared mustard
3/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1/2 Cup oil
1/4 Cup sugar

After prepping your dressing, design a label with a “made on ___” date for storage reference. You can purchase your project as a hi-res PDF and reuse it all throughout the year. Kelsey printed her label design on Avery’s Print-To-The-Edge Round Labels.
